I group my tabs not only to keep them organized but it... "also helps to reduce your computer memory consumption up to 95% and CPU usage." Give it a try! It's made my life easier! :)

DeletePurposeful Positivity: Pick one student each class period/block to purposely give positive feedback to OR a compliment. Keep track, make a list, make it valid and relevant. I often do this in GoGuardian, pending what my comment will be. I especially like to give compliments on appropriate on-task Google Meet behavior! Not that we don't already do this, but having a record and reminder, is very helpful.

DeleteI love the purposeful positivity- I tend to compliment when I randomly see it- but putting myself on a schedule of which class to focus on for a compliment when would be helpful for me. lol

DeleteI’ve been using the “random” button in Dojo to choose students to answer questions or to pick the mode in review games done in class. This has helped me to not call on the same students and keeps students engaged since they don’t know who will be picked!
ReplyDeleteI need to try this, because I often find myself calling on the some of same students, or those kiddos who always know the answer will have their hands raised to participate.
DeleteSomething so simple, but so useful! It's fun way to keep them on their toes. If you are using Quizizz as a lesson, you can use the wheel to choose students as well.
DeleteI have been using the Brisk chrome extension to create slides for morning announcements. First I use Claude to find my information. Then I copy and paste information to a google doc. Then open the brisk chrome extension. It will appear at the bottom right of your screen. It will use the information from the doc to create a slide presentation with pictures. I have to slightly modify the fonts, information, and pictures, but it is fairly quick. Finally , you can use the recording tool in google slides to record. It is a very basic slide show , but this saves time.

DeleteChatty Patties: I often give my students the first five minutes of class to chat with me and each other either aloud or through the chat option! Not only do I learn alot about my kiddos on a daily basis, which helps me build connections with them, but it allows them to get out all the "jitters" before class.
ReplyDeleteEdulastic: I use Edulastic, https://app.edulastic.com/login, to create math test; and it auto-grades it as well. You can access the standards gradebook report for free. This allows the students, as well as the parents to see/review the test and understand the content on the assessment.
My first 5 mins of class is time to answer a question of the day and chat a little. I get to know my kids so much more and have the chance to respond to them at the amazing humans they are!

ReplyDeleteI recently have learned that Readworks has a Quizizz extension that allows you to turn any passage into a reading comprehension quiz on Quizizz. I know a lot of us have moved away from readworks because of other resources available, but it is a fast easy way to give my students individualized reading level passages in a quick way by using this feature. The kids are more interested in the quizizz then they are with a normal readworks assignment.

DeleteThere is a new update in Google classroom! Right above the meet link for each class, there is a place where you can house other important links. I have added the calculator we use for my classes and the students like having it there. One even said, "When I am joining class from now on, I will know just to open the calculator too because it is right there!"

DeleteDid you know that after asking for adjustments to an AI prompt, you could then ask AI to generate a prompt for you to use next time that would follow the same format and adjustments? I did not know this until Jamie shared the idea with me and it has been such a time saver.

DeleteOne of my favorite AI's Twee just updated their free version to now allow: 5 runs / day for Text Tools, 3 runs / day for Media Tools, 5-min input limit on media. I use TWEE to create fill in the blank summaries from youtube videos for my kids to watch asynchronously. This gives my students a set of notes and me a review framework for asych work!

DeleteGoogle Tasks has helped me feel a lot more organized this year! I love that it is on the sidebar in my email - so quick to get to. You can quickly add things that need to be done. It also gives you the option to put a date with the task. The list is then organized by date. If you put a time/date with the task it will also add it to your Google Calendar and send you a reminder.

DeleteI cannot think of anything that is different from what others have said; I may have something, but my brain only works part-time(and that's on a good day). I am not the person to come see to make school life easier. I'm someone that takes 362 turns to get to the point or goal, so making things easier doesn't come easy to me. I appreciate all of the other posts in the thread that help in that dept. There are other things that come to mind when asked "What are some tips you can share with your peers to make school life easier?", but I need to keep it professional so therefore, I will pass on those. However, no one has mentioned making school life easier by laughing, encouraging, and resting. Laugh with others throughout the day by sending a quick gif or text to make them giggle. Encourage one another by giving them hope that they can make it through the day without saying "You're unmuted" or "Turn your camera on", and finally, rest. Rest by sitting back, relaxing, and reflect on your wonderful day of teaching, filling the minds of our future with the knowledge and skills they need for life. And remember, make it a great day or not---the choice is yours!

DeleteI've been using my Wacom tablet to grade Kami passages in class view! So much quicker since I can just write on the student's Kami! Thanks to Christa and Sweeney for getting my going on the Wacom!
